Narasimha Nandi's High School has seen many obstacles than one at various stages of production and release. A film that was refused by the Censor Board, it took the help of the Appellate Board to get the certificate of release.

After a Warangal resident filed a complaint against the film, saying that the film is antithetical to the moral values held by our society, a division bench of the High Court viewed too felt the same and ordered a stay on its screening across the state.

Incidentally, the film is directed by Mr. Nandi of 1940 Lo Oka Gramam, which came into light only after the National Film Awards panel endorsed it by presenting it the Best Regional Film award. It even received a State award, but it never saw a release.

Nandi had struggled for years to make a message-oriented film like 1940 Lo.., but he faced humongous setbacks, when he wanted to release the film in theatres.

With his new film, that has been called "obscene, titillating and erotic," he tried to portray the love affair of a 13-year student and a 30-year old teacher. The division bench has found the same highly objectionable.
