"Music is one of the greatest sources of energy. It gives you faith. It has the power to make people come out of tough times and feel better. It's the best way to express one's emotions," says Benny Dayal, one of the hot and happening young singers of Tamil film music.
On getting a chance to work with Rahman, the 24-year-old singer says, "Despite trying so hard I didn't get an opportunity for playback singing, I waited for the right break and meanwhile started working in Chennai as a HR professional. Later I got to know that Rahman sir was looking for chorus singers through one of his sound engineers. This is how I got a chance to sing in his music."
Ask him about the best piece of advice he got from the Mozart of Madras, Dayal says, "Actually he doesn't advice anyone. He is very calm and never looses his temper. He makes things easier for the singer and sees work as fun."
"Shankar Mahadevan is my favourite singer," he says and adds: "I admire and adore him with gusto." On his expectations from the film industry, Dayal says, "I have no expectations. I just want to be recognised and make people happy with my songs. I live to sing."
His Omana Penne from Vinnaithandi Varuvaya composed by A R Rahman is the current rage.
