40th IFFI ends today

The curtains of the 40th International Film Festival of India will comedown today, with the screening of the Spanish movie ‘Broken Wings’ by Pedro Almodovar. Malayalee megastar Mammootty will be the chief guest of the closing ceremony, to be held at 5 30 p m. Central Information and Broadcasting minister Ambika Soni and Chief Minister of Goa, Digambar Kamat will attend the function. The Golden and Silver Peacock Awards carrying 40 lakhs and 15 lakhs respectively for the Best films and Best director will be given away in the function.

13 films compete for the awards in the competition section of the festival, which screened around three hundred films in various sections. Over 6000 delegates including the media persons attended this 11 day long extravaganza.
