Director Pavithran is back in action after a long gap. The filmmaker who made movies with the likes of Sarath Kumar, Ajith, Prabhu Deva and Prashanth returns with a Madurai-based story titled 'Maattu Thavani'.

The movie features newcomers Ram Kumar, Sathish and Badri and actresses Mrithula and Mithuna as female leads. The film talks about a boy who rises in life through sheer hard work and the problems he encounters in the process.

‘Kadhal Dhandapani plays a prominent character in the film. Says Pavithran’, "the crux of the story is that hardwork always wins. I was not keen on dong a movie set in Madurai. But the story demanded me to do one set around the place."

Pavithran, a great follower of Tamil scholar and Saint Kripananda Variar has brought in few portions in the film where the saint's good deeds are brought out.
