A former associate of veteran director Mahendran, Lena Moovendhar is ready with his maiden venture titled 'Kannukullae'. Starring Mithun Tejaswi and Aparna in the lead, the movie is a romantic tale of a violin maestro.

Moovendhar, who has churned out a host of television serials including 'Vasantham' and 'Nanayam', says, "the story revolves around a young couple who are not on talking terms with each other for a couple of years, but still live together".

Aparna, who made her debut opposite Dhanush in 'Pudhukottailirundhu Saravanan', is back after a brief interval to play the female lead. Mithun plays the violinist.

Newcomer Anu plays the second heroine, while Sarath Babu is also in the cast. Dwelling further on the film, the director says, "Illayaraja was so impressed with the story that he involved himself completely while scoring the re-recording. He was moved to tears after watching the climax. We have used 30 violins to score music for the climax".
