Coming down heavily on Pyramid Saimira Production International Limited for having initiated an "unjust litigation against him and falsely alleging that he had promised to sign Amitabh Bachchan for Marmayogi", Kamal Hassan said on Wednesday that Pyramid's suit was full of "falsehoods as well as vituperative, derogatory and defamatory allegations."
In a counter-affidavit filed before Justice G Rajasuria of the Madras High Court, the actor accused the production firm of having come to Court with unclean hands.
"From the time the memorandum of understanding was signed with Pyramid till date, I had lost a remuneration of about Rs 40 crore. I had to turn down offers from Walt Disney Company (India) Limited and Ramesh Sippy Entertainment, as I was bound by the contract with Pyramid," he said.
Stating that Pyramid could not ensure cash flow and adhere to schedules, Kamal said he was to be paid a remuneration of Rs one crore for direction and another Rs 15 crore for acting.
"I had engaged actors like Trisha and Shriya, besides music composer A R Rahman for 'Marmayogi'. I had incurred an expenditure of more than Rs 1.6 crore towards advance payments to a number of Indian and foreign technicians."
Denying the production company's allegation that the amount received from it had been diverted to 'Unnaipol Oruvan,' Kamal said he had separate accounts to prove that amount was sourced from banks and UTV, besides advances paid by distributors and satellite television channels.
