Almost after 5 years of struggle and numerous cuts ‘Kadhal Kathai’ was seen rubbing the heat, off the screens. The director was fighting it out to release the film after a lot of problems .The one line story of Velu Prabakaran’s ‘Kadhal Kathai’ is that of three women who are exploited because of their sexual attractiveness. The film went to the censor board and was banned to be released anywhere in India. The director made changes in the film and submitted again to the censor board. Finally the movie made it to the theaters.

Like an act of gratitude, Velu Prabakaran is now directing his next project ‘Deva Dasi' for JSK Film Corporation, who distributed his ‘Kadhal Kathai’. The director who is known to take up conflict-ridden subjects is now taking the concept of Deva Dasi. It’s a religious practice in which small girls were married and dedicated to a deity.

Devadasies are supposed to taking care of the temple, perform rituals, practice Bharatanatyam and enjoyed a high social status. Sources say that Velu Prabakaran will show how these Devadasies were exploited from a temple dancer to a harlot.

Hope he gives out a moral film at least this time...
