Alagiri, Kamal to unveil Sivaji statue

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers M K Alagiri will unveil a life-size bronze statue of legendary film actor Sivaji Ganesan in Madurai on October 4, in the presence of Kamal Haasan and a host of stars from the Tamil film industry.

Ramkumar said the man behind the installation of the statue was former Chairman, Board of Trustees of Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, and Kamala Theatre proprietor V N Chidambaram, who was a close friend of the late actor.
According to Chidambaram, the eight-and-a-half-foot bronze statue to be installed in Madurai would be a different one from the earlier bronze statues of the actor installed in other parts of Tamil Nadu.
It will have a different mould and strike a different pose. The statue would have Sivaji sporting a gentle look with hands folded back and in the attire that he normally used to attend functions, he said.
