Director Cheran is back at doing what he is best at, telling a poignant tale of romance and separation, spiced up with an intercommunity love and period set up. The film, titled ‘Pokkisham’, has him calling the shots after a forgetful ‘Maayakkannadi’, and he plays the lead too in the film, in which he is paired with Padmapriya.

With most of the film being shot, ‘Pokkisham’ is eyeing an early June release. All that was left of the film was its climax, and the crew is currently in Malaysia, canning the sequence.

Cheran plays a navy officer in Calcutta in the film, while Padmapriya plays the role of Nadira, a Tamil literature student living in Nagore. Their love is said to unfold in a series of flashbacks in the film, and has Aryan Rajesh playing his son in the present.

Remember Aryan Rajesh, the young lad who played hero in Balaji Shakthivel’s ‘Album’? A popular Tollywood hero today, he has been roped in to play the role as Cheran thought Rajesh resembled him.

The climax is said to have a meeting of Cheran with Rajesh, and is being canned in a sea port in Malaysia. The film is being produced by Nemichand Jhabak, with chart topping music by Sabesh Murali.
