Close on the heels of co-producing 'Poi Solla Porom' along with Four Frames, UTV Motion Pictures is keen to establish its presence in South India with a host of straight production ventures.

After ruling the Bollywood box office with films like 'Jodhaa Akbar' and 'Race', UTV Motion Pictures is venturing to produce six South Indian films.

According to Ram Mirchandani, founder & CCO, UTV Motion Pictures, 'the best and most original stories are told in the South. We plan to collaborate with key talent in the South market and build a slate of great movies in the next few years'.

After producing films in Hindi like 'Rang De Basanti', 'Life in a Metro' and co-producing films like Mahesh Babu's 'Athithi' and 'Kannamoochi Yennada', UTV Motion Pictures has lined up four Tamil and two Telugu films.

UTV would churn out a movie starring Suriya which would be directed by Mysskin. The action-packed venture has been titled 'Mugammoodi'.

Also UTV's film with Vikram would go to floors in May 2009.

Plans are on to produce a movie with director Selvaraghavan starring his actor brother Dhanush.

Moreover, a first of its kind trilingual venture (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi) titled 'Lost in Chennai' starring Darsheel Safary of 'Taare Zameen Par' is on the pipeline.

In Telugu, UTV will be associating again with Mahesh Babu and director Gautham Menon for a film that will start shooting in January 2009.
