Top films of 2007: Choice aplenty!

After Sivaji, the stylish and cool Boss, there are many other films that vie for the top slot in terms of collection and critical acclaim. Here is a peep into those films that made a mark in some way or the other:

Pokkiri

Loaded with allure, the highlights of 'Pokkiri' embrace a racy script, solid performance by Vijay with ease propped up by the sparkling performance of Asin. While Vijay's breakout performance sends our pulses racing, the love scenes were done with flair.

Opened to 100% collections all across the state, and emerged as the clear winner of the Pongal race winning rave reviews. 'Pokkiri' created a record in Kollywood by completing 50 days in 147 stations (direct run) in Tamil Nadu and was declared a blockbuster.

To sum up, the movie is an action-packed entertainer with loads of amusements, bliss, and fun. Dance master turned Prabhu Deva has proved his mettle as a commercial director with this film.

Paruthi Veeran

Karthi's portrayal of the character as a tough and lawless youth was impressive, despite the fact that it is his debut movie. Priyamani has shown her worth as a top class performer in the role of a village girl.

For the urbanites, Ramji's camera brings the exhilarating aura of village life and the invigorating warmth and whiff of the country soil.

Yuvan made the movie reverberate with rhythmic folk songs using traditional musical instruments.

It is a transfixing story narrated with a dexterity and mind's eye which only directors like Amir are endowed with!

Another Box office Hit from a talented team!

The film celebrated its 275 days run recently. The film has all reasons of joining the big league. And it deserves to.

Billa

He is back… The 27-year old Billa’s remake is an action and style package. Ajith has proved that he commands a great opening despite some failures. He has impressed many with his new touch to the 'Billa'. He took the risk of being compared with superstar and emerged winner in his own style.

The gorgeous Nayantara is a show stopper; she looks fit, debonair and effortlessly sizzles. On the whole, neatly packaged, 'Billa' has lived up to its huge expectations. Action scenes headed by stunt man William Ong are real highlights.

Cinematographer Nirav Shah's work is of superlative nature and the result is an absolute visual delight with lovely costume designing by Anu Varadhan.

Overall, Ajith's 'Billa' pushed back the Deepavali releases.
