Director Haricharan is one of the new additions to Tamil cinema. His maiden directorial venture Thoovanam in the company of Newton, won him rave reviews.

Deviating from the usual commercial format, the movie dwells into real-life incidents. With a team of young artistes and skilled technicians like Madhu Ambat (cinematography) and Krishnamurthy (art director) around, Haricharan rendered a film that was an insight into the psyche of the present day youth.

Says Haricharan, "we wanted a good script before the shooting commenced. I was confident that a team of good technicians and a strong script would work out well. The crux of the storyline was inspired by real-life incidents".

It has all the ingredients of a love story but with no violence. Says the director, "In future, I would love to churn out movie that throws light on Indian culture. I want to take our rich values and traditions to the international audience".
