A Chennai court ordered issuance of notice to popular film star Rajnikanth and two others on a suit by a person who claimed that the story of the actor's film 'Sivaji' was written by him.

Assistant Director A Elangovan, who filed the suit, sought to restrain Rajnikanth and others from alienating any rights, including audio, video, overseas, dubbing and remaking of 'Sivaji'.

The 13th Assistant City Civil Court Judge A Nazeer Ahmed ordered notice, returnable by 21 September, to Rajnikanth, Shankar, director of the film, and M Saravanan, producer, on a suit filed by an Assistant Director A Elangovan.

According to Elangovan, he had scripted a story and sent it to Shankar and Saravanan on 12 October, 2005. He also sent the same through registered post with acknowledgement due. However, the letter sent to Shankar was returned with a note 'refused'. When he opened it, he found somebody had taken out the original script and replaced ordinary white papers. While so when he saw the film Sivaji on 20 June, 2007, he was shocked to note that the story of the movie was nothing but his story. The film was constructed on the story lines invented by him, he claimed. When he tried to contact Shankar and Rajnikanth, he was refused audience.
