In a quick, but not totally surprising turn of events, Sarath Kumar reportedly resigned from Nadigar Sangam as its president on Thursday evening.

On a day of fast evolving events, Sarath took this momentous decision in the light of his big foray into politics.

Sarath, it may be recalled, recently has floated his own political party.

Having high political ambitions, Sarath has resigned his post from the Nadigar Sangam, the apex union of Tamil film artistes, to concentrate on his new ambition.

Meanwhile, Kollywood grapevine also has it that Sarath's decision may also have been entailed in the light of his signing a controversial 'wage cum work' restrictions with the Producers Council.

All told, the stage now looks set for another bout of election at the Nadigar Sangam.
