Priyamani is thrilled at being chosen as the best actress for her strong portrayal in Paruthi Veeran at the Osian film festival recently held in Delhi.

Giving credit to Ameer, Priyamani says, "I should thank Ameer sir and the whole team which motivated me to come out with my best." Though the actress had been part of several films before, it was Paruthi Veeran which gave her recognition. She played a village girl, who dies in the end.

Priyamani says, "It was a tough and challenging role. I was confident that I would come out well. It is very rare to come across such a sensitive theme in Tamil cinema these days. Hats off to Ameer".
