Ajith leaves for Malaysia on 8 May to shoot for Billa, a remake of yesteryear blockbuster titled the same. Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the movie stars Ajith, Nayantara and Namitha in lead roles. Plans are on to shoot the film in Malaysia for 30 days. Initially the song sequences would be canned followed by the talkie portions, according to Vishnuvardhan.

Ajith says, "It is a tough job to redo a yesteryear hit. When we mooted the idea to Rajinikanth, he spontaneously gave us the go-ahead. Half the battle was won then and there. Billa (2007) is our way of dedicating the movie to a 'Super Star', who had worked very hard to reach the pinnacle of glory. Director Vishnuvardhan and my producer Anandha Suresh have done their best to match up the exacting standards of the original".
