It is a well-known fact that Oram Po deals with auto racing. The director duo Pushkar and Gayatri embarked on the storyline after an interesting incident.

For Chennaiites, auto is an important mode of transportation. Pushkar and Gayatri, after their return to India from the US of A after studies, traveled a lot in auto rickshaws.

It so happened that once they traveled by an auto which was menacingly cruising through the peak hour traffic. Of course, putting up with overspeeding and experiencing chill waves down the spines is a customary occurrence to the regular Chennaiite who travels by auto rickshaws. However, Pushkar and Gayatri were nothing less than thrilled on this experience.

The director couple was quick enough to remark to the driver casually, “You should have been a racer and not an auto driver,” to which the auto driver imperturbably replied “Yes, I am a racer, an auto racer.”

Awed by his answer, they kept questioning him and got some interesting answers that eventually lead to an exploration of the more interesting world of auto racers and racing.
