Priya Mani, introduced by Bharathiraja in Kangalal Kaidhu Sei, had acted in half-a-dozen films, the young actress is pinning all her hopes on her forthcoming release Paruthi Veeran.

She says, 'I learnt the art of waiting patiently to strike the right chord in films. I carry with me the rich experience of working with Bharathiraja and Balu Mahendra (Adhu Oru Kanaa Kalam). Now with Paruthi Veeran, I am more confident to face the camera.'

Is she moving towards offbeat films?

No, says Priya Mani. 'It's quite rare for heroines to get meaty roles. Fortunately all my films so far projected me in a prominent role. Everyone expected me to climb greater heights after Adhu Oru Kanaa Kalam. But it did not do well. But I am confident that Paruthi Veeran would make amends for it'.

Expecting an award for her performance in Paruthi Veeran, Priya Mani has dubbed on her own for the movie. The movie would be released for the Pongal festival.
