After a brief delay, Shankar's Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi graced theatres on Saturday.

Thankfully, the movie has witnessed a bumper opening with majority of the tickets sold out in the advance booking itself for the first two days.

The hilarious movie produced and directed by debutant Simbu Devan has opened in nine screens in Chennai city alone.

A historical movie after a gap of 30 years features Vadivelu in the lead role. A huge star cast with no compromise on the budget by Shankar, Imsai is expected to do well at the box office.

Expected to hit theatres almost a couple of months ago, its release was delayed since the production house was urged by the Censor Board to obtain a No-Objection Certificate from Animal Welfare Board of India.

Finally after Chief Minister's intervention, the movie has managed to hit the theatres.

A tensed Simbu Devan, says, 'It would be a real laugh-riot movie and will provide a never before seen experience for the audience'.
