When a film has been running to full houses for over 35 weeks, it has to be special. Amrutha Varsham is. The Kannada movie (Amrutha Dhare) is certainly a blockbuster as it is now in its 38 week in Karnataka.

The film is directed by Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar and also features Amitabh Bachchan in a special role. One of Chandrasekhar's previous films, America was previously dubbed in Telugu and was also a success.

The movie is now coming to Telugu in a semi-dubbed version ---some portions have been reshot to suit the local taste.

The director has taken a slice out of real life. This literary man and teacher, had training in Hollywood. He has a happy knack of getting his stories from real life. he has done precisely that in Amrutha Varsham which stars Samir Dattani and Ramya.

The movie is being brought to Andhra by P Kiran of Anandi Arts.

Jayasudha, Nasser, Dharamavarapu Subrahmanyam and Sunil have played a part in the re-shot sequences.

The songs too have been mixed. Some of the originals of Mano Murthy have been retained, while Kalyani Malik has been asked to infuse some new tunes too.

Amrutha Varsham is a compact story about a young girl fighting the forces ranged against her. It is full of life and inspiration, the director says of this story.
