Actor Sathyaraj is known for coming out commercial films for a target audience, spoofing other actors. Perhaps it is an attempt to survive in the business among several talented up and coming heroes.

Taking a break from his routine, Sathyaraj now plays an unconventional role in Jayabharathy's Kurushetra.

'I may do completely commercial cinema today, but I am the same Sathyaraj who received accolades for my performance in Kadalora Kavidhaigal and Vedham Pudhidhu. As an actor I yearn to do such roles,'

"Sathyaraj is an artiste with immense potential. Actors of his stature would probably give suggestions to the director. But he is not.Without make up and with wonderful underplay, he is doing a remarkable job,' says Jayabharathy.

Roja is cast opposite Sathyaraj while the likes of Thalaivasal Vijay and Bharati Mani are also in the cast.
