Perusu, a movie featuring new-comers directed by debutant director Kamaraj was based on the life of dreaded gangster Ayodhyakuppam Veeramani, who was killed in an encounter by the police.

Though the movie featured a lesser known star cast, it had decent run at the box office.

This has emboldened director Kamaraj to begin his next film, which would be based on the life of another dreaded gangster in Tamilnadu, Venkatesa Pannayar, who was also killed in an encounter by the police.

According to Kamaraj, movies on current themes always click with the audience. 'I am pleased with decent run of Perusu and ready and raring to go with my next movie'.
