After Vijayakanth ventured into politics, it was said that he would quit the big screen. He had almost completed his Perarasu and Sudesi and not accepted any new offers.

Quite interestingly, he rejected the offer from director Selvamani to act in the sequel to his earlier blockbuster Pulan Visaranai.

Busy making a tour around Tamil Nadu to prepare his party cadres for the forthcoming elections,Vijayakanth said, 'my busy schedule prevents me from doing films. I have decided to do only movies for my home production in the coming months. Doing movies for others is a burden since I know very well that balancing politics and a career in films is no easy task'.

His Perarasu has almost been completed while his Sudesi would be wound up in the coming months.
