She is a pretty actress, who is still searching for a big break in Kollywood.

Uma, daughter of yesteryear heroine Sumithra, has acted in over a dozen films in Tamil film industry, but is yet to make it big.

Her much awaited Adaikalam along with Prashanth could not release while movies like Thenral starring Uma in the lead role failed to succeed at the box office.

She is now hoping for a turn around in her forthcoming release Thodamalae.

Asked about playing homely roles alone, she says, 'Initially my mother didn't like me acting in films when I told her about my desire. But she finally relented. I think I am suited for homely roles. It is no easy joke acting in such characters and still sustaining here. However I feel being an actress, I should do any type of roles'.

Uma elaborates that doing mature and serious characters is difficult. ‘The audience would be watching our face all the time. But I have assiduously kept myself away from glamour’.

That is conviction for you.
