Actor-director Bhagyaraj will make his return to big screen playing Dhanush's father in a movie titled Ashokamithran.

Directed by Parthiban Kanavu fame Karu Palaniappan, Ashokamithran is being produced by Salem Chandrasekhar.Gopika and Suhasini Manirathnam are also in the cast.

Announcing the movie, Karu Palaniappan said, 'it is a feel good film. It explores the affection shared by a father and his son in a different way. Quite typical to my Parthiban Kanavu, Ashokamithran will be wholesome family entertainer.'

Bhagyaraj says, 'I never wanted to become an actor in my life. But it so happened that I became a popular actor. Even now when I was thinking of directing a movie. But when Karu Palaniappan came forward with the Ashokamithran. I was impressed with my character that Iimmediately accepted to play the father's role'.

Dhanush, who is desperate for a break following repeated failures is hoping for reversal of fortunes with the movie.

He says, 'when the director narrated the story to me, I felt a vibration in me and I jumped at the offer'.

Bhagyaraj acted with Dhanush's father-in-law Rajnikanth in Naan Sigappu Manithan and the film turned out to be a big hit.

Hope Bhagyaraj's luck continues for Rajni's son-in-law, too.

The movie goes to the floors September and would be released next March.
