Actress Mumtaz, the glam doll of Kollywood till not long ago, has been in a limbo of sorts for the last few months.

Such a popular actress disappearing from the action left many wondering as to what was cooking.

Just nothing. Mumtaz was just taking a break.

After a long lay off, Mumtaz is now back playing the female lead to Vijaya T Rajendhar in Veerasamy.

Asked why such a big gap, she says "it was conscious decision. I wanted to stay away from limelight. I had offers coming my way. However, I was tired of playing such same stereotyped roles. If I am convinced with script, I would choose to act in a film".

Mumtaz has lost considerable weight and is back slim and fit.

What's the secret behind it? No secret. But just plain hard work. "I work out for over four hours in the gymnasium. I avoid carbohydrate food and take more protein rich stuff".

A slim and a fit Mumtaz is now ready and raring to go in Kollywood.
