Kamalinee is not your everyday heroine. She is a thinking actress from the land of thinkers ---Bengal. And she does not have many Telugu films in hand. Yet, she is talked of very highly and considered very promising in Tollywood. And mind you, she is not ready for the thrust-and-dance dances and the two-bit parts as heroines.
So what is that that makes Kamalinee tick? Well, the surprise success of Anand ensured that Kamalinee, the doe-eyed beauty, was noticed and talked about.
Come to think of it, Kamalinee did not have any hesitation in playing Rupa, the heroine of Anand. "It was an interesting script and Shekar Kammula is a serious director. So I agreed to do the film," Kamalinee, who had played a part in the Hindi film Phir Milenge says.
But what made her do a film in a language which she had no idea of? Well, Shekar's sincerity won the day for her. "The character had lot of depth. And Shekar's sincerity was appealing. He narrated the story and gave me the complete script".
Kamalinee didn't have any problem with the language or understanding the nuances of the character simply because the scenes in Telugu were shot after the Hindi ones. So it was easy for her to understand. The fact that she has a theater background was also very important.
Kamalinee say she doesn't want to rush in after the success of Anand. "I am being choosy. I have nothing against glamour roles per se but it has to be relevant to the story." She has signed a film with to be directed by T Prabhakar. She is also working on a Hindi and a Bengali film.
Kamalinee is in no hurry. She knows her time will come.
