Not before the controversy over fake Godman and religious matters depicted in Aamir Khan`s movie PK had died down, a new controversy over a new Godman, Dera Sacha Dera Saccha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and his film MSG (Messenger of God) has evoked fresh hullabaloo.
According to reports the Censor Board Chief Leela Samson has resigned from the post aggravated at the government`s pressure tactics to clear the controversial Godman, Ram Rahim Singh`s movie MSG (Messenger of God) in which he plays a typical Bollywood hero adoring jewel-studded costume, riding motorcycles and thrashing villains!
Incidentally what has irked Censor Board Chief Leela Samson most is that prior to CBFC clearance, the movie has been cleared by the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) and government pressuring CBFS to pass it, without any say!
Speaking to media, Leela Samson said, -"If they (FCAT) had to give it a certificate and overrule us, why have a board in place?" She lamented, "It is truly a mockery of Central Board of Film Certification. My resignation is final."
Supporting her decision as fair and justified, nine other members of the board including Ira Bhaskar have quit in support of Leela Samson.
The members who have resigned are Ira Bhaskar, Lora Prabhu, Pankaj Sharma, Rajeev Masand, TG Thyagarajan, Mamang Dai and Shubhra Gupta, among others.
Leela Samson alleged, "Working in an environment that is ruled by interference, coercion and corruption it is very difficult to work. Further with the introduction of an 'additional charge' CEO, and corrupt panel members have degraded the values for which members of this Board of CBFC and Chairperson stood for."
