Parthiban's next Kannadi Pookal is completed and awaits January release.

The movie a remake of Malayalam movie Enda Veedum Apponteum starring Jayaram and his son, fetched the latter a national award this year for the best child artiste.

Speaking about the movie Parthiban says, "it's a power-packed emotional subject. Though a remake, director Shahjahan (director of Punnagai Desam) has given his best and made minor alterations to suit the Tamil audience. Kaveri plays my heroine while newcomer Avinash plays my son. The movie has been completed and would be released next month".

Unlike his usual movies, Kannadi Pookal has Parthibhan underplaying his character.

Shahjahan says, "doing remakes is the latest trend and is also safe these days. Intertestingly, the theme of the Malayalam movie is universal --- it is about a father and son".
