'The Shaukeens': shows growth over weekend

The Shaukeens`, the most acclaimed comedy film of 2014, directed by Abhishek Sharma, released successfully on November 07, 2014 worldwide and the reactions from both the box-office and the critics have been stupendous so far. The film grossed a net box-office collection of Rs 18.5 crore over the weekend. The film started with garnering Rs 5.12 crore on Friday. Saturday witnessed a jump to Rs 6.35 crore and it peaked on Sunday to Rs 7.05 crore.

The rise in collections has been steady, with Monday also looking to be stable. What has worked in the film`s favor are the fine performances by its leading actors and the breezy comedy.

Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra have been hailed unanimously for their accomplished acts. Lisa Haydon has turned out to be the big surprise of the film and her flair for comedy has wowed everyone.

Talking about the success of the movie director Abhishek Sharma said "The movie has been well received by the masses and we are happy about it. I have personally received messages from people telling me how much they`ve loved the movie".

The biggest scene-stealer of the film is Akshay Kumar who has won accolades from even staunchest critics for the potshots he`s taken at himself. His portrayal in the film has already been positioned among his career-best performances, and Akshay fan, you can breathe a sigh of relief since he features in almost a third of the movie.
