Vivek’s satire is aimed at the rituals and practices in the name of religion. He pokes fun at them in his films and asks the audience to shun them. Recently Vivek and family was present at the temple in Kovilpatti. He had come to visit his father who stays in this town. He took part in a school function too. Vivek told the media persons that his outburst against some rituals in Hindu religion was not to be taken as his disbelief in religion or God. `I am an atheist’ declared Vivek. He said that his effort was only to highlight the blind beliefs in religion. About Kanchi Sankaracharya’s arrest he said it pained him a lot.
