While her debut directorial venture ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ is gearing up to release worldwide on May 9, Soundarya Ashwin, has received a prestigious award of national importance. The younger daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth has been awarded the ‘NDTV Indian of the year’ for technical innovation in films.

It is to be noted that Soundarya is debuting with a film that has used the Motion capture technology for the first time Indian cinema. The award was presented to the young filmmaker by Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor .

As a sweet surprise to everyone including Soundarya, a video clip in which Superstar Rajnikanth appeared and appreciated her daughter saying,"I have seen the film and told Soundarya that I'm proud of you. Definitely, our nation will be proud of you" was screened in the event.

The award ceremony was attended by the who is who of Bollywood film industry like Deepika Padukone, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and many others. The selfie pictures of the stars taken during the event are rocking the social networking sites.
