The first look poster of Kamalhassan’s upcoming film Utham Villain was released last week amidst tremendous reception among fans but this time the controversy started at the very initial step of the actor’s film. A few people started accusing that the Padma Bhushan actor has copied the photograph of a famous French photographer Eric Lafforgue's photo depicting Theyyam, an ancient art form prevalent in Kerala.

Kamal responded to these allegations in a recent media conference in Mumbai. The Universal actor who has also written the script for Uthama Villainms said “Theyyam is an art that is prevalent for more than 1,000-years now. poster My film includes a fusion of Theyyam and Tamilnadu Koothu Tradition. The make-up was done by a practitioner of this art form and that has been used for the first look poster” Saying this the actor clarified that the image on the first look poster is not a mask like many think but it is his face painted like a Theyyam artiste. The actor known for his unimaginable dedication, said it took four hours to complete the make-up for the first look Admitting that the lighting might have been similar with the photograph of the French Photographer, he said comparing the photo with his first look poster is like saying two lovers leaning on one another's chest looking in the same direction is a copy of the 'Ek Duje Ke Liye' poster.

Spilling the beans about the title of the movie directed by Ramesh Aravind , Kamal said, “There is a pun on the word 'villan'....Vil means 'bow' and villan means 'archer”

With these information in the form of clarification the expectations on Uthama Villain are just going to increase multifold.
