Slow pace at 'Highway', no audience for 'Darr@The Mall'

'Highway' has managed to scrape through at the box office, what with over 21 crore coming in its first week. For a film with a one film old heroine and a leading man who hasn't given many solo successes, this is a fair result. The biggest star of the show was Imtiaz Ali and if one compares the outcome of 'Highway' with his biggies like 'Rockstar' and 'Love Aaj Kal', these are obviously low numbers. However, it is also a fact that 'Highway' is hardly as commercial a film as the aforementioned names, which further balances out the result.
The film, after an okay beginning, did see a rise in fortune over the weekend. However, it stayed low during the weekdays as a result of which the final verdict is barely average. After quite some brouhaha that surrounded the film for over a year ever since it was in the making, 'Highway' has turned out to be a two week phenomenon as it won't find itself much in the running for an extended duration.
As for the second release of the week, 'Darr @The Mall', even that result didn't come by. After a poor weekend, there wasn't much going for it during the weekdays either. Everything around the film just went silent as a result of which the opening week was only around 5 crore. Though the cost of the making wasn't much, still such poor collections mean that there is hardly anything that the makers have gained theatrically. One expected at least the smaller towns to bring in some crowds but that wasn't the case either for this horror film that neither had hit songs nor any sex element in it to entice audience.
