Kahani is a critically acclaimed bollywood film released in 2012. It is one of the few films to utilize the performing abilities of actress Vidya Balan.

Now the film is being remade into Tamil and Telugu both with same title Anamika. Nayanthara who enjoys top status in both the industries is reprising Vidya’s role in both the South Indian versions of this film. Sekar Kammula is directing this bilingual.

In a recent interview, the director has spoken a few words placing Nayanthara a few steps ahead of Vidya when it comes to acting. Vidya acted as a Pregnant woman deserted by her husband in Kahaani whereas as per the script of Anamika, the lead lady is not the one under her family way. The director was quoted saying, “the character of a pregnant lady searching her husband can acquire the sympathy of audience very easily and that will have positive impact on their decision about the performance. Anamika is not a pregnant lady and that makes the role more challenging. This given Nayanthara is the best for her performance in Anamika is sure to leave the audience awestruck.”

The director who has got a few Nandi awards and Filmfare awards to his credit also stated that Anamika will not be complete rip off of Kahaani and he has modified the script suiting the taste of South Indian audience.

Recently the film’s teaser was released and it has been well received by the audience.
