After being a Tamilian, the superhit tall beauty Deepika Padukone turns Aamchi Mulgi of Mumbai...

In her forthcoming film, the most awaited Farah Khan’s directorial ‘Happy New Year’ (HNY), Deepika is said to be playing a Maharashtrian girl who is a bar dancer by profession.

Although Deepika’s character will not a heavy Marathi accent like how her Tamil was in ‘Chennai Express’, she will carry a slight slang of the language in HNY. Her

Since the multi-starrer has been touted to be a musical drama, it is now heard that most of the dance and music numbers revolves around Deepika’s character. Sources claim that the filmmaker has planned lavish and grand dances of the actress. "Raw and real, like they are performed at beer bars. There will be dancing to old hit songs by Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle," said one source.

Hmmmm, reminds us of Shantipriya of ‘Om Shanti Om’ where Deepika, a debutant then, had done a brief bar dancer’s role in a song number in the film. The film which was also helmed by Farah and had Shah Rukh Khan in lead.

Incidentally, Priyanka Chopra also plays a cabaret dancer in her forthcoming YRF’s film ‘Gunday’... Let’s see who turns out to be best sizzler on the dance floor...
