Veteran Malayalam actor Thilakan, who was part of many successful Tamil movies, was admitted at a Thrissur - based Jubilee Hospital after suffering from a stroke. His condition is critical, hospital authorities said on Wednesday.

The popular actor had complained of uneasiness last week during a film shoot and was admitted to a private nursing home in Palakkad, from where he was shifted to the Jubilee Mission Hospital Medical College in Thrissur.

A team of doctors who are treating the 77-year-old versatile actor reportedly said he also suffers from pneumonia in addition to kidney disease and the infection has spread to entire body.

'Chathriyan' and 'Mettukudi' were some of the Tamil films in which Thilakan was an inevitable part.
