In these seven months of 2007, Kalabhavan Mani has six releases as heroes. Mohan Kupleri's Payum Puli, Pramod Pappan's Abraham and Lincoln, Thulasidas's Raksahkan, Naushad's Nagaram and Sarathchandran Wayanad's Nanma were the releases that bit the dust.

Only Nanma had some thing different to offer but when released among the other biggies, the film also became a non starter. The only film of Mani that fetched applause's was Chotta Mumbai in which he was presented as a villain opposite Mohanlal.

Owing to this dismal run of films, Mani seems to have decided to accept roles as villains and supporting actors in superstar films. The first film in this direction is Mammootty's Nasrani in which Mani appears in a supporting role, full time one as the driver and the staunch supporter of David John Kottaram, the character played by Mammootty.

Mani has even refused a Telugu film to become a part of Nasrani. So in future, we are sure to See in him in more meaty roles, but not as the hero.
