Actor Ajith has been long engaged in the remake of the Malayalam classic 'Kiredom' which had Mohanlal in the central role which even fetched him national recognition. The action drama was released recently with the same title. The film which instantly made rave reviews even pushed the magnum opus 'Shivaji' to the second position. But in the last week the film has undergone some changes in the climax scenes after its global release. This has been done to keep Ajith fans and repeat audiences of the film happy, according to sources close to the producer, Suresh Balaji.
In the original Malayalam version and in the Tamil, the protagonist was projected as a loser towards the end .As this was not acceptable to a large section of the fans and audiences; it was sited to have affected the collections at the box-office in centers other than Chennai.
In the changed climax the hero Shakthivel portrayed by Ajith kills the criminal, who is wanted by the police and a voice-over which immediately follows says the court has pardoned him. The final shot have him giving a salute to his father in the police uniform
The film was earlier remade in Hindi in the title 'Gardhish' with Jackie Shroff portraying the central charcter.
