In a major casting coup of the year, Mohanlal the ace actor of Malluwood has been called to act in the new venture by the world famous director Adoor Gopalakrishnan. The film which will be produced by Doordarshan will be based on the three short stories by the famous writer Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai.

The film will also present a number of commercially viable artists like Padmapriya, Nanditha Das and Jagathi Sreekumar. The film which will start its shooting by March will be the 10th feature film of the noted director.

This is the first time Mohanlal is associating with the films of Adoor.

The other superstar of Malayalam, Mammootty has been with Adoor in his three earlier films like Anantharam, Vidheyan and Mathilukal of which two has earned him the State awards.

With this film, it seems like Mohanlal is in the sure shot run of awards this year, as he has another two films like Aakashagopuram and Pardeshi for the 2007 award selections.
