Classmates leads the list of hit films made in 2006. The other mega hits of 2006 include Keerthichakra, Rasthanthram and Thuruppu Ghulan, which all have made more than a hundred day run.
According to the latest reports Classmates has bagged more than 23 crores from 125 days in the box office. The film is rated as the biggest ever in the Malluwood. Mohanlal's Rasathantram directed by Sathyan Antyhikad also has made a whooping 16 crores form its 140 days in the major centres. Keerthichakra also seems to have collected the similar amount, but the actual figures are not yet known. Mammootty's Thuruppu Ghulan which ran for 113 days also managed to collect anywhere between 9 -11 crores from the major centres.
The other films that managed to reap profits in the list include Chinthamani Kolacase, Vadakkumnaathan, Lion, Chess, Balram vs Taradas, Pothen Vava, Baba Kalyaani, Mahasamudram, Bada Dhosth, Yes Your Honour, Palunku and Kilukkam Kilukilukkam.
According to the trade figures Malluwood has invested 175 crores in the 63 films that were released in 2006. The initial figures cites that the industry has collected only 130 crores as box office collections.
