Kamal, the ace director who has done 34 films in the last two decades, says his best movie ever is Karutha Pakshikal, as he has not compromised much on it.

Though the movie was critically acclaimed, it did not open big. Kamal has directed several movies including Perumazhakalam, Niram and Swapnakoodu, which have broken box office records in Kerala.

Adds Kamal, "In Karutha Pakshikal, I wanted to highlight the injustices done by the Kerala society to Tamils, who settled in Kerala for livelihood. So, in the film, Murugan's (the role played by Mammootty) blind daughter does not get eyes after Meena dies because her husband thinks it demeaning to donate his wife's eyes to a very poor Tamil girl. This is how the hypocritical Kerala society behaves now."

Kamal is optimistic even after poor reports for his recent release. He says, 'I am not worried at the box office results. I want to continue rendering quality films'.
