'Subconsciously slipped into the character without really being aware of it. It has shaped to a nicety, something which should fall in the landmark category.'

This is what Jyothirmayi had to say about her role as Nagammai in the Tamil movie Periyar.

The actress, who made her debut in Tamil with a item number in Idhaya Thirudan before playing the heroine in Thalainagaram, says, 'I play Nagammai in Periyar. It was a honour to have got the nod ahead of others. I was tense initially. But the entire crew made me feel at ease and finally I ended up getting a pat from director Gananrajasekaran.'

She is also playing the heroine to Vijayakanth in Sabari. Flying off to Bangkok to shoot a song sequence with him, she says, 'I am getting varied roles in Tamil. People take me seriously here. I am really happy'.
