Gone are those days when the acting talents of the actresses were recognized. Today’s audience sees actresses as just glamour-dolls. Hence there is a great dearth for talented heroines, says Meera Jasmine.

The national-award winning actress says, 'there are only a few films where the heroines are given more importance these days. I hope the situation changes soon.'

Meanwhile when asked about her role model, the out-spoken actress says, 'it is Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. A dynamic lady, I admire her courage, integrity and self-confidence'.

Meera Jasmine has got a couple of movies in Malayalam, which includes one opposite Mohanlal, and her Tamil venture Mercury Pookal is nearing completion.
