In an interview, director Bala confirmed that actor Vijay has shown interest in doing a film with him. On this, the director continued "Once I decide to work with Vijay, then the script should be capable of showcasing Vijay on a different platform. I should elevate him to a new level". It is Bala's turn now, after director Ameer, to show enthusiasm in working with Ilayathalapathy.

It is well known that Bala's prime choice of lead for his earlier success projects 'Nandha' and 'Naan Kadavul' was 'Thala' Ajith, but later settled down to Suriya and Aarya, respectively. Will he be interested in working with Ajith? "We have tried to team up twice but nothing materialized. When we anticipate something to happen, it will not; but when we have it in the least of expectations, it will materialize. Keeping my fingers crossed." replied the director.
