One of the first awards given away for excellence in films, Ujala-Asianet award was distributed yesterday. While Anwar Rasheed’s ‘Ustad Hotel’ was adjudged the best film of 2012, Mohanlal and Kavya Madhavan walked away with the best in acting for their performances in Grand Master, Spirit and Bavoottiyude Namathail’ . Ranjith was named the best director while his movie ‘Spirit’ is the popular film. The awards were given away in a colorful function that was attended by the likes of Kamalhassan and Mammoottty. While Prakash raj was named the golden star, Jayaram was given a special award in a special commemoration for his 25 years in the Industry. Special Jury Awards were given to Manoj.K.Jayan, Kunchako Boban, and Anoop Menon while Vineeth Sreenivasan was named the multi talented personality.
