If late Bollywood statesman Yash Chopra had a railway route named after him in Switzerland, where he shot most of his romantic films, prolific filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala becomes the first Bollywood producer to have a travel itinerary in Italy in his name after shooting various films there.
The Italian territory of Puglia Official's Tourist Board "Pugliapromozione" together with Apulia Film Commission has decided to dedicate a travel itinerary through the Puglia territory to Nadiadwala.
"Thanks to the production that Sajid Nadiadwala brought down in my region we have been seen by thousands of Indian people who will possibly come to travel in this part of the Mediterranean Sea," says Alfredo De Liguori, Marketing Manager of the Puglia Official Tourist Board "Pugliapromozione".
The "Sajid Nadiadwala Housefull Itinerary in Puglia" starts in the north of Puglia in the beautiful headland of Gargano to end in the sensational sea scenario of Salento in the south going through the green land of Trulli in the centre of the region.
"To have a tour after your name in a foreign land is a great honour," says Nadaidwala, whose film 'Housefull 2' packed in over Rs 200 crore worldwide this year. Fascinatingly, 2012 marks six decades of the Nadiadwala movie banner in B-Town.
"It is also 25 years of me in Bollywood and the date December 17 on which I am getting this honour falls on my mother's birthday. It is a perfect birthday gift for mom," says the filmmaker after he was accorded the honour at a grand ceremony at Bangalore.
Sajid was accompanied by his wife Warda at the event. For a company that began 60 years ago, this Nadiadwala scion seems to be the torchbearer for the future.
