After 'Kahaani', 'Vicky Donor' and 'Barfi!', 'OMG - Oh My God' has critically turned out to be most appreciated film of the year.

The Umesh Shukla directed affair has received all around positive reviews for itself and word of mouth has been ultra positive for the film as well. This means that despite the film's central protagonist being Paresh Rawal, 'OMG - Oh My God' has managed collections of over 17 crores in the first weekend.

Much of these collections have to be attributed to some positive feedback that started coming its way once the film opened on Friday. This means that even though the opening wasn't as strong (one expected at least 50% footfalls but it was much lesser at around 30%-40% mark), Saturday and then Sunday saw good escalation coming its way.

However there was some good competition that the Akshay Kumar production had to face. Continued run of 'Barfi!' (which is doing terrific till date), Ganesh Visarjan, two critical cricket matches involving India - just about everything took away some chunk of audience.

Still, the film has been hailed by one and all which means it is here to stay for sure. Also, since it's a family film and that too made at a modest budget, a sustained run of two more weeks should ensure healthy collections being accumulated.

While commercially the film is a decent success at the least, there are good chances that the final verdict would be much higher since this isn't one of those fly-by-weekend affairs.

Meanwhile 'Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal' did fly by the weekend itself as it is crystal clear that it won't have a run beyond a week. A terrible film, it only registered terrible collections right from Day One. With just around 4.5 crore coming in the weekend, this Priyadarshan film is not just his weakest film for a long time, it is also his lowest opener since one can remember.

While critically it has been slammed left, right and centre, (limited) audience footfalls weren't helped either with poor word of mouth. There was a wishful thinking of this Nana Patekar-Shreyas Talpade starrer turning into a dark horse but that was not to be.
