"We haven't sensationalised the kiss" - Kalki on 'Shaitan' controversy

Kalki Koechelin is aghast that her little peck on Kirti Kulhari's lips has managed to find so much attention for itself even as the film for which they have indulged in this act, 'Shaitan', gains absolutely nothing from all the unwanted publicity that is coming it's way.
"I guess on-screen kissing is something that has our culture is not yet willing to accept", sighs Kalki, "It can be as harmless as the peck that we show which is just one of the many moments of all the 'masti' and 'dhamaal' that young kids indulge in during their parties and all. But we seem to be a little obsessed with such things. It is surprising that we haven't yet moved on with times."
Kakli could well be right here. After all the makers have already made it quite clear that Kalki's peck on Kirti's lip isn't something that needs to be read into much.
"Exactly", says Kalki, "Have you ever heard anyone associated with the film even trying to sensationalise the kiss? Not at all. I don't know when would our society really mature. It isn't as if we are showing a full-on lesbian scene out here. For heaven's sake this is a mere two seconds shot. Hopefully things will change with more cinema like 'Shaitan' coming up which believes in continuous progression."
'Shaitan' releases this Friday.
