Mammootty, Mamtha bags Mathrubhumi awards

Following the trends that were evident in the other private awards announced before, the year's much coveted Mathrubhumi -Kalyan silks Chalachithra awards also goes for Mammootty and Mamtha Mohandas for their very special performances in 'Pranchiyettan and the Saint' and 'Katha Thudarunnu' respectively. While Ranjith has been selected as the best Director, veteran actor Innocent has been conferred the special award for his roles in ‘Katha Thudarunnu’ and ‘Pranchiyettan and the Saint’.

Rafeeq Ahamed was named the best lyricist, while M Jayachandran won the best music director award. Vijay Yesudas and Shreya Ghoshal have been named the best playback singers of the year, while Alexander was named the best child artiste.

The awards will be presented in a colourful function on April 3 at Thrissur.
